Our Mission: to share our knowledge, understanding, and experience of Yoga in all its depth, beauty and diversity; to teach and live with integrity and authenticity; and to inspire the next generation of yoga instructors towards a rewarding career and a richer, fuller life.
We achieve this in part by including only the most learned and experienced teachers and practitioners on our team, and by keeping our trainings grounded in Satya, or Truth.
Our 200 hour course balances the practical, theoretical and experiential aspects of yoga. Of great importance to us is providing our students -you!- with a well-rounded, comprehensive training, giving you the tools, techniques, and confidence that allow you to immediately begin teaching on a professional level.
Two daily asana classes (taught in the Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, and Yin Yoga traditions) include both pranayama and meditation, and our 'Posture Clinics' provide greater insight into specific asanas by exploring and studying them. Proper alignment, anatomy&physiology, health benefits, symbolism, Sanskrit/common names, modifications/variations and more are all covered during the clinic portion of the course.
In addition, daily talks, lectures, and discussion periods may include, but are not limited to, the following subjects:
History of Yoga
Yoga: Styles, Systems, and Approaches
Ayurveda: The Science of Life
Patanjali's Yoga Sutras (Classical/Raja Yoga)
Hatha Yoga
Pranayama- Methods and Effects
Meditation- Styles and Techniques
Anatomy, Physiology, and Kinesiology
Sequencing (Vinyasa Krama)
Principles of Alignment
Energetic Anatomy
Bandhas and Mudras
Tantra Yoga
Nutrition
Fasting, Cleansing, and Detox
Adjusting & the Nature of Touch

Believing that the ability to teach well is inherent in everyone, we'll have you begin 'practice teaching' immediately, so that you get comfortable tapping into your natural gifts right from the start. You'll first work in pairs and then in small groups -developing your confidence and style- before moving on, towards the end of the training, to lead the entire class.
When possible, we offer movement meditations, chanting, kirtan, and satsang to deepen our experience and to support our personal transformation. On occasion, we are also able to offer pujas and homas (fire rituals).
Beyond this, when practitioners and teachers of other natural health and wellness systems are available, we invite them to share their knowledge, wisdom and experience with us, as we all can incorporate many of these complimentary healing practices into our yoga.
Woven throughout the core curriculum is a constant reference to the more spiritual dimensions of the practice, including the symbolic expression of universal truths (such as the patterns reflected in nature) that are expressed in both the microcosm and the macrocosm. As we emphasize the potential to draw energy from these sources, our teacher trainings offer a strongly Tantric flavor. We honor the Yogini, Sadhu, and Tantrika traditions highly in our course, in addition to the more traditional, 'classical' yoga lineages.
As an aspect of this, we are extremely reverent of the concept of 'leela' (Sanskrit for 'divine play'), and encourage the lighter side of the practice as well. Of great importance to us is the idea of joy, of delighting in every aspect of existence, while walking the sacred path of Yoga. As such, we see to it that our trainings are not only deep, meaningful, and transformational, but also, lots of fun!
Students are awarded a "Certificate of Achievement" upon graduation. In addition to certifying you as a qualified instructor, this grants you the ability to register with Yoga Alliance USA as an 'RYT-200' (a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 200 hour level).
